Special Taps, Dies and Reamers can be manufactured in any quantity from one piece to hundreds. As prices for specials are based on the quantities ordered, please contact our order desk for a quotation of your needs. Standard industry assumes a 10% over/under shipment for specialty manufactured tools. If over/under shipments are not acceptable please advise us at time of quotation.
When ordering special taps, dies and reamers, the more information we have will enable us to determine the correct tool for your application. Below is a list of information required to accurately quote:

Special Taps

  1. Size and Pitch of Thread
  2. Class of Fit or Gauge Tolerances
  3. Right or Left Hand
  4. Thread Form
  5. Lead - Single, Double etc.
  6. Type of Material to be threaded - Grade, hardness and machining properties are all helpful
  7. Type of hole to be threaded - Thru or Blind, if blind advise amount of clearance at bottom of hole
  8. Depth of hole to be threaded, indicate any reach if applicable
  9. Will Machine or Fixture affect the length of tap(s)
  10. Will tap pass through or back out
  11. Other features required: keyways, threaded shanks, oil holes, stepped shanks, hex drives etc.
  12. Submit drawings or prints if possible
  13. Coatings required: TiN, CrN, TiCN, Nitride, Steam Oxide etc.


Special Dies


  1. Size and Pitch of Thread
  2. Class of Fit or Gauge Tolerances
  3. Right or Left Hand
  4. Thread Form
  5. Lead - Single, Double etc.
  6. Material to be threaded
  7. Cutting New Threads or Rethreading existing threads
  8. Outside diameter & thickness of die
  9. Length of part to thread
  10. Special features which might affect die
  11. Drawing of part or dies if possible


Special Reamers


  1. Diameter of Reamer
  2. Tolerance
  3. Number of Flutes
  4. Length of Cut/Flute Length
  5. Straight or Spiral Flute - indicate Right or Left Hand Spiral
  6. Pilots
  7. Steps or Multiple diameters
  8. Type of shank - Straight or Taper, indicate any special features
  9. Tapered diameters - Large and Small End diameters and length of flute, degree of taper
  10. Chamfer Angle and Length
